The knobbed cylinders are an early sensorial material. They help to develop the child's visual discrimination of size. They also help to prepare the child for later literacy and mathematics.

The pink tower is an early sensorial material. It helps to develop the child's visual discrimination of differences in three dimensions, and aids in the development of their fine motor skills. It indirectly prepares the child for later mathematical concepts.

The child is introduced to the knobless cylinders after they have worked with the knobbed cylinders. It provides further exploration of grading and comparing.

A love of stories is a great foundation for later literacy. Children love to look at books independently and to have a story read to them. Puppets are another way to encourage a child's language development.

The sandpaper numerals are introduced after, or during, the child's work with quantities. The sandpaper allows the child to feel the shape of the number.

The land and water globe introduces the child to the concept of Earth as a sphere. It provides the child with a sensorial impression of land and water and introduces them to the fact that Earth is made of land and water (and air).
